First…thanks so much, Daryl for an awesome evening at the Catalina Bar and Grill.
I had never seen Jack Jones live and liked him but was more ho-hum. Always thought he had a nice voice and didn’t realize his exceptional vocal talents before last night.
We were seated a little to the left side of the showroom but exactly the right place for people to be passing by….particularly, Jack Jones. I wasn’t sure it was him but Daryl told me “That’s him.” The 3rd or 4th time he passed by us, I extended my hand for a warm handshake from him. He was very charming and handsome..
When he finally took stage, his voice just blew me away. He rocked, jazzed. blussed, hit notes out of this stratosphere and held those notes sometimes for almost a minute.
Truly amazing. We kept saying to each other that we wished Michael could be here and see a singer who’s chops were still in great shape after 30 years of an already full career and also meet him. Two terrific singers from different generations making contact. I’m sure they would have hit it off immediately. Jack Jones also has that sense of fun in his performance that Michael has and just a side note, gorgeous…
Jack Jones introduced notable people in the audience, one of which was Barbra Streisand’s younger 1/2 sister, Rosalyn Kind. She sang a few bars with Jones and sounded incredible.
Also, in the audience was Tita Cahn, wife of Sammy Cahn who wrote many of Sinatra’s and Jack Jones’ songs.
